Many people ask a lot of questions about the drug dilaudid; for instance, they will ask when dilaudid was invented. Well dilaudid was actually first discovered in Germany in the early 1900's it was manufactured by Knoll pharmaceutical and is still producing them today. Dilaudid is mainly used for moderate to severe pain but it is also used as cough suppressants for painful bronchial coughs.

It is often prescribed to terminally ill patients with painful cancer. Dilaudid was developed not long after heroin was removed from the market. It was thought to be less addicting than morphine. I can't actually say this is true. I know a lot of people get hooked on them some by taking them for pain and others that take them as a heroin substitute. I have done this myself bouncing back and forth between the two. Then there are those who we will call Dr. Seekers for want of a better name. They do their research as to which physicians will write scripts for dilaudid. A person may have a dozen doctors they visit. One thing is sure they will run out one day and then what will they do. I can tell you when this happens they are going to be plenty sick. I would seek help before I got to this point.

If your dilaudid addiction is not too awfully bad you could try tapering yourself off of them. This can be done by reducing the amount of milligrams you take each day; for example if you are using 40 milligrams per day try reducing your dose by 2mg per day until you are down to nothing. If this does not work then I would suggest that you go to drug rehab. There you can be detoxed from dilaudid medically. This is by far the best way to stop using dilaudid. One reason I say this is because you will experience very little pain from dilaudid withdrawal.
