Back acne is a troublesome problem that most adults and teens are very eager to avoid. Once you have it, it is difficult to get rid of thus it is very important to head it off at the pass and not allow it to start.
Cleanliness is a key in avoiding back acne. Take a shower at least twice a day, more often if it is hot and you sweat a lot. Always shower after you exercise or after doing anything else that leaves you sweating. If you have a tendency towards back acne you may want to use 2% salicylic acid pads or you could try washing with a soap that includes benzoyl peroxide as well. It can be difficult to wash your own back, so invest in a back scrubber.
Just as sweating is bad for your acne, not changing sweaty shirts is equally risky. When you sweat bacteria grow in the pores of your skin, thus starting off a bout of acne. Keep your skin clean, dry and free from dirt and sweat. If you want to stay extra dry, try applying some body powder when you are done showering.
Exfoliating is an excellent way to treat back acne. When you exfoliate your skin, you remove the layer of dead skin. Of course, you do not want to be too harsh on your skin as that can only aggravate skin problems. Instead, use a body puff and gently exfoliate all of that dead skin off your back.
If you are not able to reach all of your back with a body puff you could instead try a chemical exfoliant. One that comes to mind is Alpha Hydroxy. Ten percent glycolic acid will do a very good job of exfoliating the skin from your back, and all you need to use is about two inches of cream and your skin will soon feel fresh and new again.
If you do not want to use chemical and exfoliating agents, you could see if just drinking a lot of water and eating fresh fruits and vegetables will do the trick. If you have a good diet and stay very clean, you should be able to avoid skin problems, such as acne on your back.
