How many years have you been suffering with acne? Has it caused you problems in your life or missed opportunities? What have you been doing to try and get rid of acne? Are you doing anything at all or are you just hoping that it will somehow go away on its own? What treatments and medications have you already tried?
As you can see there are many questions surrounding the treatment of acne and for some there just isn’t a good answer. Acne can be a very long term problem and some people suffer with it all their lives. Not only do they have to deal with the embarrassment when they are teens, but later in life they find no way to get rid of acne scars, causing them even more grief. As you can see it can be a very emotionally painful problem.
Acne itself comes in many forms and can appear anywhere on the upper body. While chest and back acne can be embarrassing at the beach, it is facial acne that causes the most pain. Not only do sufferers feel as if they are being stared at, but acne is often associated with a lack of cleanliness which can be horribly difficult to deal with. In reality, while cleanliness can help to minimize outbreaks it is not the reason for acne. Acne is a bacterial infection influenced by hormonal imbalances. That is why we see it most often in teens, those who are under stress and those suffering from poor diets or lack of sleep. All of these groups have hormones that have gone way out of the normal ranges and the acne you see is simply a symptom of that.
That being the case, there are many ways to fight acne and make sure the first pimple doesn’t appear. Certainly having a healthy lifestyle can help. Make sure to get 8 hours sleep each night and eat more fresh fruits and vegetables and less fast foods and snacks and you may see an improvement. Exercising can help by clearing excess oils and dirt from your pores and keeping them healthier. Finally, adopting a daily cleansing routine can also help. Shower or bathe twice a day and wash with a gentle soap such as Ivory or Dove.
If these suggestions don’t help enough then there is always your dermatologist. He or she can often recommend additional changes and skin products based on your personal acne problem. If you can be proactive whenever you see a pimple forming you will have a much better chance of catching it before the molehill becomes a mountain. Stop the emotional roller coaster and find the cure for your acne sooner rather than later.
