Prior to considering the changes that can be made to the appearance of the face through the use of Botox, it is important to consider the side effects that can be seen from using the injections to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles through the brow, forehead and the outer lip area. Learning about the side effects of Botox can help the client to make an informed decision whether Botox injections are the right choice for their skin and the degree of how the potential side effects may affect their appearance or their lifestyle.

Common side effects that can be seen from the injections that are made to the facial area include headache, nausea and flu-like symptoms. These common side effects can begin immediately once the Botox injections have been delivered into the skin. Other side effects that can occur include pain, bruising and swelling through the injection site. Although the pain and bruising may subside it is important to recognize the damage that has been caused by the actual Botox being injected into the skin and consider these potential damages through the decision to have Botox injections.

Not so common side effects that patients can experience from Botox that has been injected into the skin include partial paralysis of the face where the Botox has been injected, numbing the muscles of the face to one side, causing delayed speech and numbness through half of the face. Other uncommon Botox side effects can include eyelid drooping and even bleeding occurring from the introduction of the Botox injections to the skin.

Though most of the side effects seem to fade within the first week of the injections placed into the skin of the face, some Botox side effects can last as long as the results of the injections, up to a period of six months.

Yes I know I haven't put anyone's actual name in the title, but that's because we all have our own idols. People who we secretly think we look a little like. You can fill in the blank yourself. I personally was thinking of Cher, but that was the 90s Cher, so I might be looking for a more up to date replacement. Any suggestions?

So much of today's beauty industry is based on celebrity endorsement. The implication of all the marketing effort, in both print and TV adverts, being that if you use the product you too can look like them.

I'm afraid I have always taken this idea with an enormous pinch of salt. Whilst I accept that a course of cosmetic injections, such as using Botox to reduce your crows feet, does indeed produce a real improvement in your appearance, actually looking like one of the 'Desperate Housewives' is a little harder to achieve! The major problem is that while we're trying to fit our beauty treatments in around all our other day-to-day commitments, these women are professionals. They have looking perfect as their full-time occupation; and that's a massive advantage.

Consider this list:

They are physically stunning to start with - this might not be a good reflection on show business or the acting profession in general, but nearly always physical good looks are rated higher than actual acting talent. These people are starting their beauty regimes from an already high base.

They don't have to work 9-to-5 - they can devote the whole day to preening, pampering, working out at the gym and generally aiming to be their absolute best.

Those photographs might not be all they seem - shock, horror! Through the use of that modern aid to beauty, the computer program 'photoshop' nearly all images used in advertising, magazine covers etc are re-touched in some way. It goes from removing a blemish here right up to, in some cases, even removing a couple of inches from the waistline! All done through digital manipulation of the original photograph.

What I'm trying to get across is, please be realistic in your initial expectations as to what your beauty treatment can do for you. Look for small improvements getting better and better step after step.

Don't be discouraged, if there isn't a massive improvement instantly and keep going.... as they say, all good things come to those who wait!

Does your age show on the lines and wrinkles on your face? Do you dream of a younger and smoother skin? Do you want to get rid of lines that make you seem older than you are?

Yes, you know that botox is a quick solution to your problem. Creams and other beauty products that promise to give you a younger looking skin seem too long to take effect if it’s going to take effect at all. On the other hand, as Samantha Jones of Sex and the City puts it, “Botox works every time.”

How much does botox cost? In a nutshell, it could cost around $500 - $1000. Still, like any other medical procedure, it depends on many factors. Some doctors or salons give you a price of per unit. A unit means a dose of botox treatment that they are going to use on you. A unit could cost around $10 - $15. What’s good about this is that you can probably get a lower price than $500. Some offer their prices in packages. For example, 3 units could only cost about $25 - $27. Ask for their prices then compute on which option is best for your budget.

Botox costs also depends on different doctors and salons that have different prices depending on their location, their reputation or even the time of the year. You can probably chance upon a promo on botox so you can save more.

If you think you are paying for reputation, it might be worth it. Remember the botox treatment targets the face. Should anything go wrong with your face because of the treatment, it would be you who would also suffer the consequences. Choose a trusted and reputable doctor to take care of you and your quest for beauty even in your mature age.

What you also need to know about botox procedure is that it’s not a one time deal. You have to undergo the procedure 2-3 times a year. Depending on how good the procedure was done, the effects of botox could last for 3 – 6 months. If you don’t have a lot of cash, those several months can give you time to save up for the next treatment. The treatment usually takes about 10 to 30 minutes. The effects usually take effect within the week. There are no known dangerous side effects, save for headache which usually occurs within 2 days. Other than that, botox is considered a safe procedure.

What does botox do?

Lines and wrinkles, usually around the eyes and the forehead, are brought about by the contraction of muscles, usually because of frowning. What botox will do is it will paralyze the muscles surrounding the wrinkles to prevent it from contracting and showing wrinkles every time you move your facial muscles.

A well done botox at the right places will definitely give the effect of a younger, smoother skin although when done poorly can also cause awkward facial effects. It won’t look nearly natural as what all beauty procedures should aim for.
How much does botox cost? Better start quoting for a younger looking you!
